The Spirit of Me is a self-development, self-discovery integrated art program. It is designed to heighten awareness, enrich thinking and purpose—to encourage individuals to have higher standards and expectations for themselves. Facing inner turmoil in a positive, creative way provides an opportunity for personal growth through the transformation of fears into challenges. Emotional exploration is a large part of releasing for students, especially when they realize there is an emotional connection to an event, person, or thought and begin to understand how they feel about it. To the left is a showing of a youth at risk project at a local gallery, amazing work!
Raised in Saskatchewan and the Yukon Territories, Meghan has been influenced by old art forms, emotions, and the human journey throughout her life. She is touched by 'raw art,' finding something extraordinarily deep, thoughtful, and expressive in the delivery of old art forms. She also feels great appreciation for the beauty and complexity of nature.
Because she was quite ill as a baby, Meghan was delayed in her learning. She became a contented child simply watching the world around her while trying to understand the natural order of her life. She was told not to look to other people to determine what she could or could not accomplish, but to find her parameters. Introspective by nature, Meghan was to discover that there is always much more to the picture than what the various scenes playing out in front of her might first reveal.
Giving the student permission to find and use their personal power is a powerful way to give ones self personal worth, strength and courage.
